A popped-off nail may have old adhesive, oil or debris on the underside. Reapplying over that residue can create an uneven bond.
Inspect the natural nail
Make sure the nail is not sore, damaged or covered with old adhesive that the product directions say should be removed first.
Clean the reusable press-on
Use the care method allowed for the artificial nail and remove only the residue that can be safely removed.
Use fresh adhesive
Do not expect a used adhesive tab to perform like a fresh one. With other adhesives, follow the manufacturer’s reapplication directions.
Recheck the size
If the same nail repeatedly pops off, the problem may be fit rather than adhesive strength.
Quick check
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Does the nail fit comfortably? | Fit affects lifting, pressure and wear. |
| Are you following the adhesive directions? | Different systems need different prep and removal. |
| Is the edge lifting? | A compromised bond should be assessed rather than ignored. |

Keep the routine product-specific and avoid forcing a press-on to stay in place when fit or adhesion is clearly wrong.
