Press-On Nails vs. Gel Manicure: How the Routines Differ

Finished press-ons are artificial nails attached over the natural nail, while a gel manicure usually applies gel color or builder products directly to the nail and cures compatible layers under a lamp.

Application time is organized differently

Press-ons focus on sizing, prep, adhesive and placement. Gel manicures focus on nail prep, product layers and complete curing.

A lamp is not automatically needed for press-ons

Adhesive tabs and traditional press-on glue do not require a UV/LED lamp. A lamp is only relevant when a compatible light-cured product is part of the system.

Removal is product-specific

Both routines need the correct removal method for the products used. Do not peel or force material from the natural nail.

Choose based on the routine you want

If you want a finished design that can be applied as a set, press-ons may appeal to you. If you want color or structured gel applied directly to the nail, a gel manicure is a different process.
